    Barebone Keyboards

    Barebone keyboards are keyboard kits without switches and keycaps and usually consist mainly of the PCB. This allows you to build your own custom keyboard with the switches and keycaps you want. Depending on the model, RGB lighting may also be included and controlled via software.

    What Else Do I Need to Build a Custom Keyboard?

    If you choose a custom keyboard, you will need compatible components and suitable accessories.

    • Switches: A barebone keyboard requires switches – most models support 3-pin and 5-pin switches that can be installed easily thanks to hot-swap sockets
    • Keycaps: Keycaps are placed on the switches and are available in many different colours
    • Accessories: A key puller is useful for installing and removing switches and keycaps correctly
    • Keyboard Cables: Most barebone keyboards come with a detachable cable. If required, the cable can be replaced.
